Catching Up

The past few weeks have been kind of crazy. I haven't posted anything lately because my internet has been out. Our cable company here is awful! I had been trying to get back online for a week when I finally called and ordered DSL. It is wonderful and I am back in business! Of course to get it connected I had to upgrade my operating system. Nothing is easy! I just called Charter to disconnect my internet connection and they tried to sell me on their cable telephone service. I said to the guy, "Seriously, after all that I've been through for the past year, you think I would add another service?!" He said, "No I guess not. I understand." I am sure it's not the first time he's heard that!

Enough complaining about Charter! We had a FUN vacation in July. We took the kids to Panama City Beach, FL. Eric and I have been there a lot in the past but the kids had not. So they loved it. They couldn't believe how soft the sand was. We stayed in a condo across the street for the beach and Sharky's. We were on the sixth floor so the boys had a blast sitting on the balcony yelling at people going by. Of course, their Daddy started it and they thought it was the coolest thing ever! PC is still very much a party atmosphere. It was great just getting out of our usual environment and being together with no responsibilities.

We came back home and got ready to go to Mother's. I took the kids up to spend the weekend with her since we haven't had a chance to go all summer. We had a great time with her. We got all the school shopping done and then went to the Family Fun Center. It had arcade games, go carts, bowling and putt putt. My boys' dream place! They were just buzzing around that place like little bees. They didn't even want to settle down enough for bowling or putt putt. They had a blast on the go carts. Spencer was tall enough to drive one on his own! He was so happy with himself. I didn't think we would get him out the front door, his head was so big! Trevor was mad because he had to ride with me. I had to take the first curve fast enough to spin out and he was over it. He loved it too. It's one of those things he is learning quickly now, that his brother is older and he will be doing lots of things first. Jordis loved it too. She thought she was playing the games even if she wasn't really. But she did play a game where she hit a button to "knock out" the ducks and she did well with it. She loved it.

We left Mother's house Sunday morning and met Stephen and his uncle near Roswell. Stephen and Spencer have been planning his visit for months. He was going to stay until Saturday but his grandmother died so he has to go back on Wednesday or Thursday. They are bummed but are still having a lot of fun. That poor kid has had enough grief to last him a lifetime. I hope things turn around for him and he has a happy life through his adolescent years. I hope the two of them stay close too. He's enjoying his first trip to Alabama. He has shot bee bee guns for the first time, met a "rock star", been visited by the "Alabama tooth fairy", been to the Auburn football stadium, and will swim in a lake with no alligators today! Good stuff!

School starts on Monday. I am kind of ready to get my days back but really HATE for them to go back. A new set of issues: homework, making friends, packing lunches, signing papers, and just dealing with all the crap that goes with school! I will miss my boys not being here during the day too. So will Jordis.
