Things are changin'

Our lives are once again making some big changes. Jordis is starting school which seems unreal! AND she has lost her first baby tooth! Kindergarten in 21 days, she is so excited. She is no longer a baby or even a preschooler. She does continue to be sassy, energetic and silly. I am looking forward to the next chapter in her life. Spencer has shocked the world this summer by initiating the process of getting a job and getting up every day at 530 (AM!!) to go to work. He has shown so much maturity and responsibility over these months! We couldn't be prouder of him! Now he is getting ready to go to 9th grade. Unbelievable, he is a high school freshman! Trevor is having a super chilled out summer. He is babysitting for me every day and just hanging out. Last month his baseball team won the league championship. He made the winning hit which has had everyone we know talking about him! He was so happy and now has a nice 1st place trophy that HE can be proud of. We are so proud of him and his commitment to baseball. Eric's still working hard. He has been traveling a lot this summer which I do NOT like. But it pays the bills. We are a few months away from the big 20th anniversary. I can't believe it. Seems like yesterday we walked down the aisle. I love him more than ever! I'm still on my quest to lose weight. It seems like it has been a never ending process. I am determined to get it off for good this time. It's amazing how much better I feel just losing a few pounds. Vacation was amazing this year. We took the kids to our happy place, Jamaica. They loved it and it was so great to be back there!

Happy New Year!!

2012 is here! We had a great Christmas this year. Jordis was really happy and excited about Santa coming and about Jesus' birthday. She thinks it is very cool that she and Jesus have their birthday in the same month. She asked me one day "Mommy, how many is Jesus going to be?" Such a sweet innocent question. So we made cupcakes for her class on her birthday, had cake on her birthday and at her party. Then we made cupcakes again for Jesus on Christmas. I for one and done with any form of cake for a while!

The boys have enjoyed being home for 2 1/2 weeks. They sleep later and later everyday. One more day to sleep late tomorrow and then back to school. It was a much needed break for them and me.

I am looking forward to this new year. We have a lot of exciting things happening in 2012. To start it off, our little baby Stella will be here at the beginning of March. My brother and his wife are finally having their first child. I can't wait! This summer I plan to make up for the crappy summer we had last year with trips to the beach, much time at the pool and relaxing and having lots of fun with the kids. Then in September I will celebrate a BIG birthday. I plan to party in the dreaded age of 40. In November Eric and I will celebrate 20 years of married. 20 years have flown by and I am so looking forward to celebrating being married to my best friend.

Another Summer

Another summer is here and I am updating my blog. I guess I am so busy during the school year that I can't remember to come on here. We had a fantastic vacation this summer. We took the kids to Disney World. Jordis got to meet the princesses which made her very happy. The boys were introduced to roller coasters! Spencer and Eric rode the Hulk at Universal and loved it. Trevor was finally tall enough to ride everything and he had a blast. His favorite was the Aerosmith Rock n Roller Coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios. We stayed at the Nick Hotel, a place the boys have wanted to visit since they were little. It was a fun place. We actually celebrated Trevor's birthday there! It was a great vacation.

We got home and had a sleepover party for Trevor. They swam at the neighborhood pool and had burgers. I think overall he had a great birthday. The morning after the party I was knocked down by Grace, our big 65 pound puppy, and broke my ankle. So on June 18 our summer was over. We went to the ER, got some pain meds, and were sent home to wait for surgery. The following Tuesday I had surgery to have a plate put on my fibula which was broken in 3 places. Six pins were put in the tibia (also broken) and ankle which was dislocated. This has been the most painful experience I have ever had. It trumps childbirth and a c-section. I do not wish this on my worse enemy. As a true Mom, I have managed to get around via a wheelchair and do everything I need to do. Although, I can't drive for 6 weeks.

This experience has been eye-opening for me. I mean, all there is to do it sit around and think about things. Here are some things I have learned about people and life: 1. I already knew this but a reminder is helpful - I have THE BEST husband in the world. He loves me so much that my pain is actually his pain. I almost wanted to comfort him while I was laying the yard in agony because I could see the pain on his face. 2. My kids are amazing. They have all stepped up to help me with anything (including helping me to the bathroom at the beginning). I hate that they had to give up their summer for me but Spencer and Trevor have been my caretakers as well as helping with Jordis. And Jordis is my fashion girl, choosing and getting my clothes together everyday. She also loves filing up my water bottle for me. She has been able to go spend time with both grandparents and had a fun time with them both. I am lucky to have them all!! 3. I have a lot of friends! And its not the people I thought it was. The friends I thought were my friends are not. The ones I expected to be here for me, even offer to help me in even the smallest ways, have disappeared. And others have been calling me and checking on me, going to the store for me, taking me places, etc Even the most unexpected people have cooked dinner for me. Everyone rallying together have made this a very bearable experience. I hate that I have had to go through it but my head has been cleared up a lot!

I know that I still have a long road ahead of me with physical therapy and a lot of frustration. I will never look at another handicap person the same way. I will ALWAYS get the door for someone and IF I have a neighbor, friend, or anyone I know who needs help I will help them no matter what is going on in my life. I will never take for granted my 2 legs again. Just walking to the bathroom is a chore right now. Everything is a big struggle. I will be so thankful to be able to do all the wonderful things I am normally able to do. Exercise is one of those things. I never realized what a blessing it was to be able to go workout. Life will be different - I will have a more grateful attitude now.

A Whole Year Later.....

I just can't believe I haven't posted anything in a year!! Crazy! Just like my previous post, it was a fun summer! We had another fun vacation at The Caribe in Orange Beach. The beach was kind of yucky with the oil in the water. We weren't allowed to get in the water so we spent most of our vacation at the resort in the pools. The kids did not care at all. They had a blast.

Spencer started 7th grade last week and seems to be liking it a lot. I can't believe in 6 months he will be a teenager. A teenager!!! I don't know if I'm ready for that or not.

Trevor started 5th grade last week. I can't believe this is his last year in elementary school. Seems like yesterday he was starting kindergarten. I have been thinking about that a lot since school started - so many people I know have little ones going to kindergarten. Makes me remember when Trevor started and I had such a hard time letting him go. I thought he was my baby and that I was done having one at home. Maybe a part of me knew I wasn't done. And along came Jordis!

Jordis will be starting preschool next week. She is very excited. She gave up her nap this summer. That has been a big change in our household. She was so cranky for a while but is doing great now. Ballet started last week and she loved it so much. I can't wait to see how well she does throughout the year.

Like is just coasting by and we are trying to enjoy every little moment we can. They will be grown up and in the real world sooner than we can blink.

An eventful summer

It is the end of July and I am wondering where the summer has gone! We started it off with a birthday, as always. Trevor's birthday was June 6 so we celebrated with a sleepover party. He has some sweet friends. I can't believe he is already 9 years old. It seems like yesterday we were moving to Florida as he turned one. He is a very mature, funny, and sensitive boy. We went to Longhorn for our little family celebration. He loves steak - rare steak. It grosses me out how he and Spencer like eating it all bloody. The Longhorn staff sang to him. He could have killed us! It was very funny though.

The kids all left the day after his birthday and spent a week with Mimi and Papa. They had a blast with them. We had planned the trip to Florida for that week but had to cancel it for my surgery. We were all disappointed that we didn't get to visit with our Florida friends but maybe we'll make it next year.

Yes, I said surgery. I had a hysterectomy on June 8, also removing my right ovary. This is something I always knew would be in my future. I was 17 when I was treated for my first ovarian cyst. Over the years I had many problems with that ovary, a 3 year long bought with infertility, and many horrific periods in between. After Trevor was born I had many problems and begged doctors to just do the hysterectomy already. While dragging their feet and trying "one more thing first" I miraculously became pregnant with Jordis. Now that I have begun to have the same problems the doctor here in Alabama agreed that it's time to get it taken care of. I am now 7 weeks post op and feel better than I have felt in at least 15 years. I have a new found freedom with my body and am so happy to not feel the pain in my right ovary.

Stephen came to visit for a week. I can't believe how much he has changed!! He is taller than me, his voice has changed and he just seems happy. It did a lot of good for me to spend time with him and see the he is going to be ok.

Spencer is ready for middle school. He and Trevor asked for their own rooms so we moved Jordis upstairs and they have their own rooms downstairs. They are very nice rooms! It turned out great. Spencer is in heaven - happy to have his own space. Trevor likes his room but is really having a difficult time separating. He has ALWAYS been with Spencer since he was 2 years old. It's not an easy thing. I have found him sleeping on Spencer's floor most mornings. It breaks my heart. I hope he gets used to it and starts to enjoy it more SOON.

NOW we are off to the beach!! We leave Saturday morning. I can't wait to get there.

"My name is Jo Jo...."

I guess someone in the family had to have a country name. Jordis has started telling everyone, "My name is Jo Jo!" She has always called herself that and sometimes the boys say it. We correct her but she still insists: "My name is Jo Jo!" She is developing her own personality. She has started dancing like Elaine on Sienfeld, with the leg kick and all! Never a dull moment around here!

Growing Up

I got an email 2 days ago. It is time for the 20 year class reunion!! What? It seems like I was just in high school. I can't believe how time goes by so quickly. My son is going to be 11 in a few weeks. I remember when I was 11 and what a fun age it was. Again, it seems like I was JUST that same age. Trevor is 8 and is developing a sense of humor. Well, he always had a great sense of humor. I guess I mean he is trying to figure out HIS humor. Spencer came into his with his crazy dancing. Trevor wants to have something like that all his own. He will find it I am sure. And then there is my little princess who just turned 2 and is thinking she is grown up. She started sleeping in her big bed this week and has mastered the potty. So she has reached a huge milestone. It's amazing to watch it all and to see it all fly by just like my teenage years did. If only I could freeze time and watch it all in slow motion.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! We are having a great 2009 so far! Jordis is on her way to potty training, wearing panties and having hardly any accidents. She is happy to be doing it and loves wearing panties.

Trevor is playing basketball and won the hoops challenge for his grade at school. He went to the distict level and did well. He didn't make it to state but was very proud of his accomplishment.

Spencer is a social butterfly in 5th grade. He is making friends and having a great time. He's looking forward to getting back into golf in the Spring.

All is well here. We are counting the days to Spring Break!!

What's been happening!?

Two months have passed since I last blogged. The reason simply is that I have gotten hooked on Facebook. I love it and I have found so many people with whom I have lost touch with over the years. It is just a wonderful thing to go on there and find people! I also love being able to update family and friends on all the happenings at my house all at once. So that's my excuse and I will get better. Here's a rundown of the past 2 months.

November 14, 2008
Eric and I celebrated our 16 year anniversary. I can't believe that much time has passed. It has flown by because it has been fun and unbelievable. I never knew being married to a person could be so great. We have made so many great memories and I really feel like we have only just begun. He's exceeded my expectations for sure. I still love him today even more than on our wedding day. Our celebration was going to dinner with the kids. We celebrated our anniversary a few weeks early at Blue Ridge. We left the kids with Nana! It was fun.

November 23, 2008

This was a bizarre day at the Short house. I wanted a beautiful picture of the kids for Christmas cards. This is a near impossible thing, to get 3 children, one of which is beginning her terrible 2s to sit still all at once. So we went over to Daddy's with the kids all dressed up to get some photos by the pond with the fall leaves as the backdrop. Whatever. Jordis did not cooperate. For some reason she thinks she has to throw her hands above her head and say, "CHEESE!"

So we decided to go over to the train tracks and take some shots. I had seen this done in some pictures a photographer had on her website. So off we went to the tracks. The kids were happy there. Jordis was so preoccupied with the tracks that she didn't care that I was taking her picture. When all of a sudden out of nowhere comes a train! Trevor yelled, "TRAIN!!!" and started to run off the tracks. It was right there! Spencer instinctively grabbed Jordis and ran off the tracks. They were so scared but I wanted my picture. I had them go back but the next photos were of 2 scared looking boys and a girl with her arms in the air with her mouth saying, "CHEESE!"

We came home after the train incident and started getting the Christmas decorations out. The boys decided to play keep away with Jordis with her ball. Spencer sat on the chair and Trevor on the sofa. They were throwing it back and forth and she was trying to get it and was so mad. Then she got on the sofa with Trevor to get it from him right as he threw it. I walked in to say, "STOP TEASING HER!" We all three went for the ball at the same time, leaving Jordis alone on the sofa. She tell off while standing and was hurt. I tried to calm her but she was obviously in pain. I could feel her collar bone poking up where it was broken. I took her to the ER, leaving Eric at home with the boys. After exam and X-rays, they confirmed that she had broken her collar bone. She was given pain medication and sent home. There is nothing they can do since she won't leave on a brace at her age. It would heal in 3 weeks. Poor baby.

December 6, 2008
Happy Birthday To Jordis! She turns 2. We had a fun birthday party for Jordis. Boy how she loves being the center of attention!

December 25, 2008
Merry Christmas. The entire month of December is spent getting ready for Christmas and within 5 minutes it is over. All the gifts are open and it is over. What a wonderful Christmas we had except for the stomach virus which went through our house. Trevor was vomiting all day on Christmas Eve and Spencer woke up Christmas morning vomiting. Even with that going on, it was still a great Christmas.

Cheetah

What a sad couple of weeks it has been. On Tuesday, Oct. 14, Cheetah, our 15 year old dog, passed away. She was very sick for about the past 6 months. Eric and I got her 4 months after we got married after we were feeling that "baby fever." We knew we were too young and it was so not the time for a baby. So we got this cute little brown ball of fur instead. She was our only baby for 5 years before we added real babies to our family. Then Spencer came along and they were best friends. She was very jealous at first when she realized he was here to stay. She acted like her leg was hurt, limping everytime Eric talked to the baby. We were worried until we realized that she was switching legs. She was very attached to Eric and wanted him to focus on her. He did and she got over it. Then we added 2 more human friends for her and another dog. She adapted to the additions and all the many moves we made with her with ease. As long as Eric and I were with her she could handle anything. That is how it was for her at the end of her life as well.

She began having heart trouble about 2 years ago. She slept more than anything and prefered to be near us at all times. She has been on medication for over a year for her heart and fluid in her lungs. She recently has had kidney problems as well and had to have special food. 3 days before she died she started having seizures. They were getting more and more each day and the last one started at the top of the stairs, causing her to fall all the way down while seizing. I heard her but didn't get there in time - she had already made it half way down. She was suffering at the end and we just couldn't let her suffer any more. We did not want her to have a painful death.

The boys told her goodbye through their tears. At such a young age, they understood that she was suffering and they were ready to let her go. Eric met me at the vet where we said our goodbyes. She licked Eric all over his face as he talked to her. She wanted to make sure he was ok. I was just hysterical. Dr. Harding injected the needle and quickly her breathing slowed down and she went to sleep. She was finally at peace. It was probably the hardest thing we've had to do in our entire marriage. She is in a better place and our family isn't the same. But we are getting better each day.

Goodbye, Rocky

The past few days have been interesting. A cute little Jack Russell Terrier showed up on our street Sunday and decided he liked it here so much he would just stay. The boys found him walking down our street and fell in love with him. They played with him for a while THEN came and got me. I admit he was extremely adorable (he looks like Eddie from the old show - Frasier) but I told them to leave him alone so he would go back home. Well, he didn't. After it got dark he was still laying on the front porch. So the boys made him a bed out there and gave him water. Eric and I weren't sure what to do. The humane society here is not like the one we knew in Florida. Here, they actually do euthanize animals after a certain time. So that wasn't even an option. He stayed here all night. We walked, with the dog, to the bus stop the next morning and all the kids knew him. His name is Rocky. I spent the entire day calling people (I have made more friends in Auburn than I realized). I finally tracked the owner down and he came and got the dog at around 4 pm yesterday. There were a lot of emotions. Trevor was the most affected by him. He wanted to keep him but felt sorry for him because he thought he might have been missing his family. I was also sad to see him go. Of course Spencer is our animal lover and would keep every homeless animal in the world if he could. Eric played tough guy and said, "We don't need another dog!" Although he did ask me at one point while Rocky was here what we were going to name him! I know him. He liked him too and would have "allowed" us to keep him if we hadn't found his owner. The only one who wasn't crazy about him was NALA!!!

When I finally reached the owner, he didn't seem too alarmed that his precious Rocky had been missing for 24 hours. I would have been out looking for either of my dogs all night until I found them! And I would have been so thankful for the person who cared for them. The past 2 or 3 times Rocky has gone missing, one of my close neighbors have been the ones to find him and call. So he knows that this is the street he goes to! He would have been very easy to find. He wasn't wearing his tags this time so that is why it was so hard for me to find his owner.

One important lesson we all learned from this experience is that there are so many homeless and mistreated dogs out there. IF/WHEN we get another one, we will adopt from the humane society. But the truth of it is, I don't think we have seen the last of little Rocky.

Happy Birthday to me.....

36 years old...Can't believe it. Today I am thankful for my life - I'm thankful to my Mother for a wonderful childhood that carries me through my years as a parent. I have happy memories that I can share with my kids and a great role model for a mother. My memories of my childhood years and the things she taught me, the values she instilled in me, the sacrifices she made for me make me a great Mom.

I am thankful for my happy life as a wife. Since the age of 20 (still a child) I have had the most amazing partner in life. Eric has helped me to become the person I am today. He has been my protector while still respecting the independent person my Mother raised me to be. I am not the same person I was when I met him. I am much more self assured and strong.

I am thankful for my children who keep my in check. They let me know what is and is not cool! They keep me young by dancing around and singing with me when I get too serious.

40 will be here before I know it and I am looking forward to it!

Potty Time 101

How could it be that I have forgotten how to potty train a child? I don't think I have forgotten EVERYTHING except how incredibly time consuming and frustrating it is. Jordis has been showing most signs of readiness for quite some time even though she is only a little over 2 months shy of being 2 years old. Well as of now I think she has all the signs of readiness and the ball is in my court. I feel like I will have to take a week staying at home for her to get it. Just when we have gotten involved in so many fun activities like "story time" at the library. We went today for the 2nd time and she loved it. She really does think the world revolves around her. When the event was over and we started to walk out of the room, we get to the exit and she turns around and waves at everyone and says, "Bye bye, story time!" As if everyone there is so devistated that she's leaving. It was quite cute. Really.

Jordis woke up this morning and said, "Pee pee potty." So I checked her and she was totally dry. We spent at least 20 minutes on the potty but no pee pee. Then I went to get her a shirt and she got up and pee-ed on the floor. She said, "Uh oh, pee pee potty." So close. She has pee pee-ed in the potty so many times before but not in response to saying she wanted to do it. So, even though she missed the actual potty, I think this was a huge accomplishment. Then we got dressed and went to story time and then to the park so she used her diaper without thinking twice about it. I have to suck it up and be the Mommy and do this already. I just am lazy about it and I have to stop being lazy about it.

Trevor's doing great with football - he loves it and I don't understand why. He practices for 2 hours every Wednesday and has a game on Monday. He gets beat up and still loves it. I'm happy that he's happy.

Spencer is doing such an awesome job at karate. He has learned over 10 Japanese words already and has learned how to "flip a guy." Hopefully he won't have to ever use this skill but I guess it's good to know. The most important thing is that he is getting confident and he is 100% focused on what he is doing for the hour.

Never a dull moment around here. I wouldn't have it any other way.

We are well!

A stomach virus has run its way through our house over the past week. It has been aweful. Eric is the only one who has escaped it! Hopefully, it is done now.

Spencer is having a difficult time keeping up in 5th grade. It is a lot of work and he is having to figure out the personalities of 3 different teachers. I know this is the beginning of a lot of hard work for him.

Trevor is breezing through 3rd grade so far. It comes easy to him. He started football last week. He likes it despite all the bruises and emotions that come with it. Football is intense, even at the 8 - 9 year old level. I don't understand it but everyone I talk to just says, "that's just a part of football." At practice Thursday night he started crying twice! Eric told him, "You can't cry on the football field unless you are REALLY hurt." I have to agree with him. I know it is hard work but it is a tough sport. I would prefer neither of them play. It would be good for my nerves if I didn't have to watch any of my children getting hit and knocked down. But if he loves it I can tolerate it.

Jordis is talking up a storm. She started chanting, "War Eagle" yesterday. She has a little temper that we are trying to get some control of. I put her in "time out" yesterday. I haven't been sure how she would do or if she would even understand but she did. She put her head down and look ashamed. At the end of the 1 minute I had her there she started to whine a little. She, like Trevor, will be a challenge to discipline. Like Trevor, when she's sweet she's really sweet, but when she's mad look out!!!

Game day! We are getting pumped for Auburn football here. There's a home game today and we are all getting ready. I wanted to go to Tiger Walk and take the kids to walk around the stadium today but it is so early! Maybe the next game will be later in the day so we can enjoy it. Fall is in the air! It is so exciting!

They're Not My Babies Anymore

"Can you take the toybox out of our room? We're too big for a toy box..." That was Trevor on Saturday when we were reorganizing their room (again). We made them their own spaces in the room, separating the bunk beds and putting very grown up looking comforters on the beds. The only traces of the "little boys" they were is two baskets full of Webkinz. The few toys left - hidden away in the closet - are a few swords, some balls, some cars, and Spencers guys. How sad. My two little boys are growing up. Trevor will start football soon. Yikes! He has evaluations on Saturday. Spencer is loving golf and thinks he wants to get into karate. I think the self defense part of it will be great for him.

School started back on Monday and they are both doing well. They like their teachers and are making new friends everyday. Spencer is changing classes for each subject and seems to be staying pretty organized so far. He already had 3 tests last week. I think it was mostly review but we're starting to get into the big time now. 5th grade, I can't believe it. Trevor is excited that he will be learning to write in cursive this week and will be working on multiplication and division. 3rd grade is a big year. No more "s, n, i and u's." He will actually get a's and b's.

Jordis' next step will be learning to use the potty. She is ready, but am I? I remember what a commitment it is once you start. We will be confined to the house while we work on it. So getting started is the biggest step. She has all signs of readiness so now it's entirely up to me. :| This weekend whenever she pooed we would ask her, "Jordis, did you poop?" She says, "Not me."

Who would have thought that I would have a child learning to switch classes in his last year of elementary school, a child making the turn into the upper grades of elementary school - learning cursive, and a child learning to go pee in the potty all at the same time in my life??? It's all wonderful and I thank God every day for this incredible life I am in.

Catching Up

The past few weeks have been kind of crazy. I haven't posted anything lately because my internet has been out. Our cable company here is awful! I had been trying to get back online for a week when I finally called and ordered DSL. It is wonderful and I am back in business! Of course to get it connected I had to upgrade my operating system. Nothing is easy! I just called Charter to disconnect my internet connection and they tried to sell me on their cable telephone service. I said to the guy, "Seriously, after all that I've been through for the past year, you think I would add another service?!" He said, "No I guess not. I understand." I am sure it's not the first time he's heard that!

Enough complaining about Charter! We had a FUN vacation in July. We took the kids to Panama City Beach, FL. Eric and I have been there a lot in the past but the kids had not. So they loved it. They couldn't believe how soft the sand was. We stayed in a condo across the street for the beach and Sharky's. We were on the sixth floor so the boys had a blast sitting on the balcony yelling at people going by. Of course, their Daddy started it and they thought it was the coolest thing ever! PC is still very much a party atmosphere. It was great just getting out of our usual environment and being together with no responsibilities.

We came back home and got ready to go to Mother's. I took the kids up to spend the weekend with her since we haven't had a chance to go all summer. We had a great time with her. We got all the school shopping done and then went to the Family Fun Center. It had arcade games, go carts, bowling and putt putt. My boys' dream place! They were just buzzing around that place like little bees. They didn't even want to settle down enough for bowling or putt putt. They had a blast on the go carts. Spencer was tall enough to drive one on his own! He was so happy with himself. I didn't think we would get him out the front door, his head was so big! Trevor was mad because he had to ride with me. I had to take the first curve fast enough to spin out and he was over it. He loved it too. It's one of those things he is learning quickly now, that his brother is older and he will be doing lots of things first. Jordis loved it too. She thought she was playing the games even if she wasn't really. But she did play a game where she hit a button to "knock out" the ducks and she did well with it. She loved it.

We left Mother's house Sunday morning and met Stephen and his uncle near Roswell. Stephen and Spencer have been planning his visit for months. He was going to stay until Saturday but his grandmother died so he has to go back on Wednesday or Thursday. They are bummed but are still having a lot of fun. That poor kid has had enough grief to last him a lifetime. I hope things turn around for him and he has a happy life through his adolescent years. I hope the two of them stay close too. He's enjoying his first trip to Alabama. He has shot bee bee guns for the first time, met a "rock star", been visited by the "Alabama tooth fairy", been to the Auburn football stadium, and will swim in a lake with no alligators today! Good stuff!

School starts on Monday. I am kind of ready to get my days back but really HATE for them to go back. A new set of issues: homework, making friends, packing lunches, signing papers, and just dealing with all the crap that goes with school! I will miss my boys not being here during the day too. So will Jordis.

Making Memories

I don't know why it has become so important to me to document everything. Things happen and I am so afraid I will forget them. I have hours of video footage of the boys and very little of Jordis. It bothers me. Now I was getting in gear and videoing her regularly and my camcorder no longer works!! It's aweful. I also have not started her baby book. The boys told me the other day that I have to get on it. They are right. So that's my new project. I will get her book done. Then I have to work on getting the other photos scrapped. It will be a long project but really has to be done. I am also writing their life story for them. So many little projects but I am sure one day they will be happy to have it. I know they will. The boys already love looking at their baby books.

Every day a new memory or two are made. These days are flying by. Memories are precious. One day I will wake up and they will be grown, gone. All I will have left will be the memories of them. Eric and I will spend the rest of our lives enjoying each other and remembering our babies. It's sad but it's not sad. It will be great to be a "couple" with him again. But I will miss these days I know. I have to focus on savoring every moment right now.

I am so blessed to have the kids and all the great times with them.

getting started

This is my first entry to my blog. I am new at this so it may take some practice runs! It is early in the morning, Jordis is playing and the boys are sleeping. Eric is at work. We are having a fun summer. The boys are sleeping late everyday and I am cleaning, doing laundry and trying to keep food in the house which is impossible with them here everyday. This is the beauty of having pre adolescent boys I guess! They eat like there is no tomorrow!

Eric and I had a great trip to Jamaica. We are looking forward to a trip to the beach with the kids. Jordis has never been to the beach that she can remember so it will be fun to see how she reacts. She is amazing. Everyday she has a new little something cute that makes me smile. I am so lucky to be able to do this again. I never thought I wanted another child. I never thought I would get the opportunity to have a daughter. Life throws surprises at you all the time and boy do some of them turn into the greatest joy you could have imagined!!! I enjoyed watching the boys go through this toddler stage so much and was so sad when they were done with it. I really grieved for my "babies" when they started school. With each milestone Trevor had I was so sad because I thought he was my last baby. I am not sad about Jordis growing up. I am just savoring every moment because now I know how fast childhood goes. Now I am enjoying Spencer and Trevor as big kids. They are so funny. Learning about grown up life a little every day. I want them to keep their innocence as long as they can but at this point they are learning about the realities of life whether I want them to or not.

I am going to close this for now. I will figure out everything I can do and make this an awesome blog with categories, pictures and everything! draft 6:39:00 AM by Tonya Delete
